Below are the types of charges and penalties you may face for committing arson:

When you cause a fire and a person burned during the arson suffers great bodily injury, you may be guilty of a felony, and could be imprisoned in the state prison for five, seven, or nine years.

If a house or other inhabited building was burned during the arson, you may be guilty of a felony and could be imprisoned in the state prison for three, five, or eight years.

If a forest was burned during the arson, you may be guilty of a felony and could be imprisoned in the state prison for two, four, or six years.

Factors that May Increase the Penalties You Face for Arson

There are other factors that could increase the penalties you face for committing arson in this area. You may be facing up to an additional five years imprisonment if any of the following happened:
